#TravelTuesday Tip: Hack Your Own Fares

#TravelTuesday Tip: Hack Your Own Fares

Kayak's "Hacker Fares" just saved me a few bucks this evening when I was shopping for my airfare for my upcoming trip to New Orleans.

What is a "Hacker Fare"?
Kayak pairs one-way flights, usually from different airlines, to create a discounted roundtrip. In tonight's case, I was able to purchase a round trip flight on Delta by purchasing one-way flights off their website, saving me $25.

So if you're shopping for round-trip flights and haven't found a good price, try searching for own ticket combos. It may take some time (yes, hours) but it'll be worth it. Other travelers have saved hundreds this way so it doesn't hurt to try, or have Kayak or newcomer Skypicker guide you (it'll save you some time).

Have you used the “hacker fare” technique to save yourself on a round-trip flight?.
